One question: what was the nature of the discrimination? Misgendering is often accidental. I don't think it's discrimination unless it's deliberate, right? Were there other types of discrimination?
I didn't ask specifically about the nature of the discrimination. If it helps, in the survey I defined discrimination as being treated unfairly or negatively because of your identity. Compared to harassment which I said to mean aggression, abuse or threatening behaviour which could be verbal, physical, sexual, intimidating or a combination of these. People could use an open field box to describe their experiences with discrimination which is where they talked about misgendering, as well as things like the driver not letting them on the bus, and the driver/other passengers making discriminatory comments. I can send you the link to my thesis once it's available online so that you can see the full extent of all the examples!
I definitely include non-deliberate discrimination as discrimination - a lot of discrimination comes from a lack of awareness (i.e. unconscious bias) and I can tell you from personal experience that it feels just as bad when someone discriminates against you just because they don't know any better!
This turned into a bit of an essay, but hopefully goes part of the way to answering the questions. Happy to answer any more you have :)
Interesting, thanks!
